SCI 190: The Mars Society & Working on Mars: A True Story

The Mars Society starts with an introduction to the Mars Society with information regarding the Mars Arctic Research Station on Devon Island and the Mars Desert Research Station near Hanksville, Utah. Then the Crew Geologist for Crew #36 for the Mars Desert Research Station will report on her experiences there and at Arizona State University's NASA Space Photography Laboratory where she analyzes data from the Mars Exploration Rovers (MER) and from ESA's Mars Express mission in order to extrapolate geological as well as astrobiological data which will be needed for future robotic and Human exploration of The Red Planet.

SCI 193: Magnfying Planets

As we continue to explore the planets of our solar system, newer technologies present greater amounts of information. First will be a look at the latest information from the Cassini-Huygens probe. Then we'll explore the HiRISE camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which will take the highest resolution images of Mars ever from orbit this time next year.

Amtgard recreates fantasy and medieval combat, culture, and arts. The weapons that used are PVC/fiberglass/graphite cores covered in foam rubber and cloth. All weapons are at least 2.5 inch in diameter and must conform to set safety standards that insure that the participants will not get hurt.

Kids are fen too, and this track is set to bring them into the fold by sharing with them all that first attracted us to speculative fiction and fantasy. Most items will be "hands-on" and should fit other categories as well as this one. This track of programming is NOT intended to be a daycare or babysitting service - but just to provide some activities that will appeal to those attendees between 6 and 12 years of age. Family members of all ages are encouraged to participate with the kids!
